notes to the classAnother successful annual "Movies and P.I.E."
One year a student suggested that since I make students write P.I.E.'s all year for homework/assignments/projects, that we should end the year by eating real pie --so annual "Movies and "P.I.E." was born. Thank you to all the students and parents that contributed to make this year's "Movies and P.I.E." a success! Mark your calendars: Reading STAAR Test is on Tuesday May 15th Click for Citations Slides Final Project due Friday 5/11 Students already started projects and have an opportunity to get peer/teacher feedback when they do a "practice presentation check" on Friday 5/4 or Monday 5/7. Students will then have class time to use the feedback to revise, edit, and finish their Final Project due 5/11. After the STAAR Tests--students will present their final projects in class (starting Thursday 5/17). Ask your student about their "Call to Action" project! Incomplete Projects or "50"s I automatically enter 50s for any incomplete assignments to alert parents. This means students did not meet the minimum requirements to complete the project (see directions under "Class Documents"). Students can finish an assignment due Friday and turn it in Monday for up to an 80 (I do not take 20 points off--so if he/she gets an 85 on the rubric--it's only 5 points off for being late--basically my rubric tops out at 80 for late work). A 0-zero means nothing was turned in. As always--email with questions or concerns. Thank you! 4/20/2018 We have a test grade due Friday 4/27--this is the "book project_due_0427" under "Class Documents." Students have had 5 weeks to read a book and complete the project (about 5 paragraphs total). Students also have assignments to do in class and homework due most Fridays that will lead to their Final Project due May 11th (see Google Calendar and Class Documents). Please remind your student we have 6 weeks of school left--and they do need to stay engaged and busy! Weeks 3/26-4/10 We are breaking from units for Benchmark Tests and STAAR Review :) Homework is still listed on the calendar. Students should still be reading at home every night! 7th Writing STAAR is Tuesday 4/10 Benchmark Tests Next Week 3/26-27 Students have Benchmark Tests next Monday and Tuesday. The Reading Benchmark on Tuesday, 3/27 requires students to show their LAND strategy for a 4th Quarter TEST GRADE!
